The focus of this briefing will be centered around the importance of inclusion and sustainability of transportation initiatives within Black communities.
Transit is Essential Town Hall
Join us at a town hall event where transit riders will be invited to voice their concerns about the Chicago transit system to a panel of elected officials and community leaders.
How can our transit system play a greater role in the fight for clean air, racial equity, and a strong economy?

Light Up Lawndale Bike Ride
Please Join us for Light up Lawndale Bike Ride on Dec 16th, 2023. We will meet at The Go Hub location at 3930 W. Roosevelt at 3:00pm. We will ride together to Franklin Park and from there stop at local business and end the ride in Douglas Park, all the while gazing at the beautiful Christmas lights along the way and jamming out to Christmas music! The goal of The Chicago Bike Collective Ride is to celebrate all of the bike collectives serving Black and Brown communities here in Chicago, including, though not limited to, community bike shops, clubs, organizations, and retailers. The ride will begin at the beautiful Palmisano nature park, explore the Bridgeport and Pilsen neighborhoods, and end back at the park.

Creativity in Motion: The North Lawndale People's Ride
Did you know that you can find a piece of Hollywood right in North Lawndale? Join us October 6 to explore film and televisions cinema businesses. This community bike ride that will highlight important production locations as well as small businesses. Let’s support them by lifting up the community by creating awareness through movement, conversation, and joy that will be felt as we ride through the neighborhood. There will be music, lively energy, and most importantly COMMUNITY!

Self Care Sundays
Join Equiticity for Self Care Sundays! Let's share space and time together as a community as we practice self care every Sunday before the week starts. We will meet at the Go hub and walk together through North Lawndale and practice gratitude at the park. Each first time participant will receive a gratitude journal along with holistic and mental health resources to help them start their self care journey. There will be music, nature, and good energy along with intentional conversation.
PLEASE NOTE: This event has been cancelled for Sunday, Oct. 22. We will resume this weekly event on Sunday, Oct. 29.
BUFI Bikes the Shore for Ujamaa
In its efforts to build economic unity in the South Shore community, the Black United Fund of Illinois Inc. (BUFI) will be hosting its 5th Annual BUFI Bikes the Shore for Ujamaa on Sunday, Oct. 1!
The goal of BUFI Bikes the Shore for Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) eight-mile, two-hour community bicycle ride is to symbolize economic unity within the South Shore community and Chicagoland areas. This is not simply a demonstration of unity, it's designed to inspire the community, while embracing the human spirit with empowerment and resources.
SouthSide Monthly Ride: Back to the 70's
Join us at Arcade Park on September 30 for a throwback to the 70s community bike ride! We will also be featuring a community party following the bike ride at 1:00 p.m.!
Architectural Bike Tour of North Lawndale

Pedal for Change! Experience the Diversity Within the 27th Ward
Join us for an exciting and informative bike ride through the 27th Ward, hosted by CHANGE Illinois, Equiticity, and Chicago Westside Branch NAACP! Discover the ward's unique character, the story behind its borders, and how the Chicago Advisory Redistricting Commission imagined it in its community-centered People's Map. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or a beginner, this leisurely ride will be perfect for you. Take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to explore the ward and learn how to empower yourself with us!
ROUTE DETAILS:
The ride will begin at Central Park and Chicago Avenue, at the Salvation Army, and we will ride to Fairgrounds Coffee at 1330 W. Fulton Market.
There is ample street parking at the beginning of the ride, so feel free to park and bring your bike!
No bike? No problem! We will have several Divvy bikes on hand for those who need them. Please specify if you would like a DIVVY in your RSVP.
Equiticity will have ride marshals on hand at the front and back of the group to keep everyone safe, and we also will have someone who drives along nearby with water and snacks at stops along the way.

Our Nature of Magic Walk Series consists of six Community Mobility Rituals (CMR's) that offer full immersion into exploring natural areas, history, culture, and connection to community. The walks will be conversational, with many opportunities for stops and discussion, and deep explorations within the park. Each walk features a community meditation or yoga session. Feel free to bring your bells, bowls, mats, etc!
Humboldt Park Community Walk
Join Equiticity and the Chicago Puerto Rican Cultural Center for a community walk on September 8 to celebrate the vibrant Humboldt Park neighborhood. The walk will start at the Corridor Ambassador Office (3411 W North Ave.) and end at WEPA Mercado del Pueblo (4013 W North Ave.). All are welcome to join!
The Association for Commuter Transportation's International Conference
We're excited to share that our President and CEO Olatunji Oboi Reed will serve as the opening keynote speaker at the Association for Commuter Transportation's 37th Annual International Conference in Seattle, WA on Monday, July 31!
ACT's Annual International Conference is the largest gathering of TDM professionals from across the United States, Canada, and around the globe. Attendees represent Fortune 500 companies, state/local DOTs, MPOs, transit agencies, TMAs, transportation service providers, consultants, and many other stakeholders working to improve transportation options for commuters and the sustainability of their communities. The International Conference spans four days, Sunday, July 30 - Wednesday, August 2, and provides attendees with numerous opportunities for professional development, networking, and fun!

5th Annual CRR19 Historic Bike Tour
Join us and our partners for the 5th Annual Bike Tour to commemorate the Chicago Race Riot of 1919. This is a journey of truth to bring justice and healing. This year's commemoration will feature prototypes of the glass markers created by our art studio partner, Firebird Community Arts, and brief remarks from Ald. Dowell, Ald. Lee, and others.
Check-in begins at 9:15am with opening ceremony of healing at 10am. Following the ceremony, the 2-hour bike tour will travel through the Bronzeville and Bridgeport neighborhoods. On the bike tour, you will learn about the history of Eugene Williams and how his unjust racist killing sparked the Chicago Race Riot of 1919--the worst incident of racial violence in City history and among twenty-five such incidents across the nation that came to be known as the Red Summer. After the ride, you will enjoy a a free lunch, music, and opportunity to engage with local organizations and resources tables.
