In this guided bicycle tour led by AIA Chicago’s EDI Committee, in partnership with Equiticity, participants will experience seven community garden spaces in the North Lawndale neighborhood. These spaces, including Eastlake Studio’s Sounding Boards Garden and CCA Academy’s Perma Park, have transformed abandoned historic sites into community landmarks, implementing responsible design principles, active communal input, and holistic green infrastructure. This tour aims to inspire discussion on how elements of these projects, both in planning and implementation, can be introduced in future design solutions and other communities.
Starting Location: Sounding Board Garden, 1929 S Lawndale Ave.
Ending Location: WACA Bell Park, 1921 S Drake Ave.
Participants are requested to bring their own bikes and helmets, but a limited number of bikes and helmets will be provided by Equiticity. Please advise.
